Db-reading-group

Data Management Reading Group is a bi-weekly event organized by the labs DATA (Christoph Koch),  DIAS (Anastasia Ailamaki), and LSIR (Karl Aberer). Its aim is to keep up with and have quality discussions on the related work done outside our labs.

Guidelines

• There will be a paper to discuss and there will be a leader for each paper.
• The meeting will start with the leader presenting the paper briefly (15 minutes). The presentation should describe the problem, the key idea, the claimed intellectual contributions and technical innovations, and the experimental results (if any).
• The presenter should lead a discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of the paper, and inspire people to brainstorm.
• Frequent interruptions of the presentation and discussion are highly encouraged.
• The leader should manage the discussion so that the duration of the meetings is about one hour.
• Even if the original presentation for the discussed paper is available from the authors, the group leader is expected to perform some filtering and add personal opinions.
