Water quality and interests in partner sites:
Lifepatch: community monitoring of the health of rivers in Yogyakarta in view of farms, factories (textile and leather), and coliform bacteria
(Art)ScienceBLR: Arsenic and Fluoride biodetection, policies on genetically modified organisms in the field
EPFL: water ties ENAC and SV, and UNIL together, water quality is also routinely monitored in Swiss public fountains and lakes
both partners have many collective years of experience and expertise in how to collaborate and document for open-source sharing and collaborative projects
Lifepatch - community mobilization in collaboration with the UGM microbiology/biotechnology department
- Akbar - microbiology with extensive acitivities in biofertilizers, and other applied microbiology addressing community needs
- Andreas - civil engineering, new media artist
- Timbil - chemical engineering, independent social mobilizer
(art)ScienceBLR - independent organization working with design students with support from NCBS (National Centre for Biological Sciences)
- Yashas - artist, activist, experience in leading students in iGEM
From Switzerland
- Jan (UNIL): arsenic and other bioreporter systems
- Melanie (EPFL-SV): cholera vibriae and their habitats, field work in Haiti and Congo to document the spread of cholera along rivers
- Rizlan (EPFL-ENAC): bioremediation of uranium, chromium
- Sachiko (EPFL-SV): a bridge between the academic and open-source communities
- Robin (EPFL-CS): communication science student, experienced in crowd-sourced geotagged geiger counters
Course mid Feb - mid June 2013
- To focus the topics to Arsenic and coliform bacteria (a representation of fecal contamination)
- Interaction with Professors - introduction roundtable, but also throughout the semester, available as mentors
- Interaction with mentors - weekly in-person feedback sessions, per need basis

- define logistics of students in Switzerland - Friday afternoons seems to be a common time for obtaining 5 credit hours

- to research the option of inviting students from UNIL
- communicate with ENAC Dean, also for access to lab space (Sachiko to follow up with Rizlan)
