DIAS Reading Group

The DIAS reading group meets weekly to discuss papers of the broader interests of the DIAS laboratory. The majority of the papers are taken from from recent data management conferences (SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, ...) as well as other software systems conferences (ASPLOS,ISCA,SOSP,EyroSys,NSDI,..)

Guidelines

  • Each week we will have a paper to discuss and there will be a leader for each paper. The meeting will start with the leader doing a brief presentation of the paper. The presentation should describe the problem,  the key idea,  and the results, and then it should initiate a discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of the paper, and possibly inspire people to brainstorm.
  • Needless to say that frequent interruptions of the presentation and discussion are highly encouraged.
  • We will try to keep the meetings around an hour.
  • Attendance is not mandatory but people participating are required to have read the paper.
  • Even if we have the original presentation for the discussed paper, the group leader in supposed to exercise some filtering.
