Sustainable development is one of the main challenges of the 21st century. From the engineering point of view, green engineering means green product design, green production technologies and organization, green buildings, energy harvesting, etc… but also information management, lifecycle management, economic impact of green manufacturing, societal implication of and for green engineering, or standardization and regulation policies for green engineering.

For Switzerland and its economy, it is essential to be ahead of these new trends and to understand in which of these fields research and development should be conducted. The Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is concerned by this challenge, and the opening of an offshore campus at Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) is one of the paths that the school will follow to boost research and teaching in these fields.

In order to stimulate the discussion and identify key challenges and opportunities for the Swiss economy and high education institutions, EPFL is inviting international renown experts in green engineering to a public workshop to be held on the EPFL campus in Neuchâtel on Thursday January 28th, 2010

The objective of this workshop is to open the discussion between international experts and representatives of the economic world in Switzerland. It is a unique opportunity for Swiss industrials to meet international experts in green engineering and to participate in a discussion and identify the selective topics that could become new strengths of the Swiss economy and research.

Do not miss this unique opportunity to meet international green engineering experts

Four topics will be addressed:

Green design & manufacturing

Use phase & end of life management

Green building & cities

Societal and educational challenges
