If QuickTime is an admin account please restart the machine and only login as QuickTime. In Terminal you can use the sudo command to remove the prefs while the francois account is logged out!

    sudo rm -r /Users/francois/Library/Containers/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX/Data/Library/Preferences

or if that does not work the complete QuickTime preferences:

    sudo rm -r /Users/francois/Library/Containers/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX

I also looked on some temp files QuickTime used while it hangs:

    sudo rm -r /private/var/folders/f1/bb7ff2rd29l3t62mrgyp22600000gn/C/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX
    sudo rm -r /private/var/folders/f1/bb7ff2rd29l3t62mrgyp22600000gn/0/com.apple.LaunchServices-175-v2.csstore
