aquarius uses generalized Lagrange Element Methods (LEM) and in particular spectral and finite elements to solve multi-dimensional partial differential equations with h- and p-refinement. High-order Runge-Kutta algorithms are used for time-intergation.

It is developped at EPFL by Habisreutinger, Latt and Vessaz and used for in the framework of this course and as well as for student projects.

aquarius was also the Lunar Exploration Module (LEM) of the APOLLO 13 mission which never landed on the moon but was used as a lifeboat to bring James Lovell, John Swigert and Fred Haise back to earth...
