Schottky groups and closed geodesics in higher rank symmetric spaces Gabriele Link, 15.11.07, 11h15, MA 12 In this talk I will explain a geometric method of how to count the number of free homotopy classes of closed geodesics in certain noncompact Riemannian manifolds. For that I will introduce the notion of "Schottky group". In the last part of the talk I will focus on quotients of higher rank symmetric spaces by Schottky groups. |
