Computational engineering

Computational Engineering (CE) is the scientific discipline that employs computer modeling and simulation to obtain detailed understanding of engineered systems, processes, materials and devices. CE studies are increasingly used in most engineering fields as a support for theoretical and experimental research activities.

Tthe ACCES initiative has been created to facilitate the implementation of CE methods by new STI professors - in particular PATTs - in their research, teaching and outreach activities. ACCES encourages networking of scientific staff having specialized CE competencies with those seeking to improve such skills.

ACCES can provide advice on existing CE resources at EPFL, and stimulate collaborations based on these activities. In particular, STI PATTs have access (free of charge) to the CoViz Visualization facility.

More details can be found on the ACCES web site or by contacting Mark Sawley.
