Help people to achieve sustainability of the Dourou-Singou River watershed (Burkina Faso) with the support of a participatory land management system

In the Kompienga forest region (Burkina Faso), Pama and Majaari communities are facing an information gap and a lack of means to ensure a good management of their environment.

The Info4Dourou project aims at bringing local communities to implement sustainable management of the land and resources, at the Singou-Dourou watershed scale. The Info4Dourou supports the communities in elaborating development strategies based on a rational exploitation of water, agriculture land and forest resources. Info4Dourou elaborates an innovative planning support system for local stakeholders. Info4Dourou also supports exemplary small projects to show the way.

A first diagnosis indicated that water is key for any local development strategy. To tackle the water question, Info4Dourou sets a complete water balance in the watershed, with the support of innovative environmental technologies. Thus, it will model the local strategies impact to ensure a positive long term effect.

Info4Dourou relies on an international interdisciplinary team to face the sustainable development and governance challenges. It works with local communities on research, action and education.
