Internship application instructions
Below are listed the instructions to follow to apply for an internship through the ISA portal:
-
Check the application deadline, if any, and stick to them. See for that:
wiki.epfl.ch/internship-deadline
-
Upload as a minimum your CV and your cover letter. Applications letters MUST be adapted to the company's job offer. Any other documents supporting your application, like work certificate or recommendation letter, can be attached as well. A course on CV and letter is given in Automn. Slides can be asked for afterwards, if you missed it.
-
If the job offer mentions to apply directly through the company's web site, do not upload your documents on ISA. They will not be forwarded to the company.
-
Upload only .pdf files (not .doc documents).
-
Choose clear and appropriate file names, like Dupont_CV.pdf or Dupont_CoverLetter.pdf.
-
When your documents have been forwarded, you will receive a copy of the email sent automatically to the company.
-
Apply several times in parallel to increase your chances of being selected. 3 applications by the end of March should be seen as a very minimum to achieve.
-
Get ready for being contacted by the company. Prepare carefully your interview. A course is given in March. Slides can be asked for afterwards, if you missed it.
-
When you get the job, inform immediately the internship coordinator and mention:
Company / Internship title / Name and email address of your contact in the company (the person who said yes to you).
We will get back to the company to propose a third-party contract and check a couple of administrative things
-
If you get a job and have other on-going applications (example 2 interviews in two different companies), do not forget to very politely inform the company that you found another internship and thank it for its interest in your previous application.
- If you find an internship which is not in the ISA list, ask the internship coordinator to validate the topic before committing.
