FMEL subrent / what to know
If you plan to sublet your room/studio during this summer, these info/hints might be useful!
1) Check the FMEL rules:
Check which kind of contrat you have and read the FMEL rules (art. 3)
With a FIX, FLEX or TEMPO contract, you cannot sublet.
When you are sure you can rent... go to point nb 2 :-)
2) To organize the subrent, don't forget to discuss the following points with the intern or the secretary :
- When does the sub-tenant arrive? How will he get the key? When does the sub-tenant leaves? How will you get your key back?
- How much will be the caution ?
- What can be used by the sub-tenant (bedkit, kitchenware, bike, others ?)
- Internet password (please check with the house manager, sometimes they create a new password for the sub-tenant)
- Will the secretary come and see your room/studio before you leave to make sure you get it back in the same state?
3) Contract
A contract need to be prepared and signed by you and the student (or lab) with the details of point nb 3 mentioned + another one for FMEL (other format with less details)
4) What to send to FMEL
- copy of the FMEL sublet contract (by e-mail is ok)
- copy of the sub-tenant passport
5) Payment
- check if the lab or the student will do the payment. Usually the lab pays to you the whole subrent in once before the arrival of the intern.
- You pay the rent to FMEL :The payment of two months rent in advance is required in order to allow subletting.(FMEL rule)
- When you come back, check the room and reimburse the caution to the student or lab.
6) Contract models (please see in the files)
I added 3 contracts models in the files:
