Adaptive capacity reflects ability of the system to manage, and thereby reduce, gross vulnerability. It depends both on feasibility and acceptability and on social, economic, technological, institutional and environmental aspects.

Tentative results

As seen in the most important drivers influencing capacity sector, social acceptability seems to play an important role in defining the adaptive capacity of a region. And here, it clearly reflects the political framework depicted in the social acceptability category. However, the challenge is now to find the missing and the right indicators describing this category in a meaningful way.

More research should be carried out on the subject.
