Cours hors plan MSc

The study plan and regulation of Mathematics allows for some flexibilities in your choice of courses.

MSc Math pour l'enseignement : Cours à options

The group "Cours à options" includes 44 credits. At least 30 have to be taken within this group. The remaining ones can be chosen within the BSc optional courses (list 1), although you cannot take one which you already passed or which you failed twice during your BSc. It's also not possible to move to your master any surplus of credits obtained during the Bachelor. To register on isa, please select 'Cours hors plan" and choose the course. In case of problems, please go to SAC. The third week of the semester send an email to valerie.kormann@epfl.ch and the SMA will move it into the right group.

Autumn : Courses will be moved at the end of October, if in November you still notice errors, please let us know.

Spring : Courses will be moved at the end of March, if in April you still notice errors, please let us know

MSc Math (90 ECTS): Cours à options

The group "Cours à options" includes 44 credits. At least 30 have to be taken within this group. The remaining ones can be chosen within the math BSc optional courses (list 1) - although you cannot take one which you already passed or which you failed twice during your BSc. It is also possible to take up to 5 credits from an engineering master study plan outside math. Please have your choice validated by the SMA beforehand. Please note that it is not possible to move to your master any surplus of credits obtained during the Bachelor.

To register on isa, please select 'Cours hors plan" and choose the course. In case of problems, please go to SAC. During the third week of the semester, please send an email to valerie.kormann@epfl.ch to let us know which BSc courses or engineering course you want into your master, and the SMA will move them into the right group.

MSc Ing Math (Applied Math, 120 ECTS): Cours à options

The group "Cours à options" includes 44 credits. At least 30 have to be taken within this group. For the remaining  credits, up to 10 ECTS can be chosen within the math BSc optional courses (list 1), although you can not take one which you already passed or which you failed twice during your BSc. It is also not possible to move to your master any surplus of credits obtained during the Bachelor. You also have to take at least 30 ECTS in the list A (applied math), cf https://wiki.epfl.ch/sma/msc. To register on isa, please select 'Cours BA/MA" (on the top, at "other courses"), choose the course. In case of problems, please go to SAC. The third week of the semester send an email to martina.keddouh@epfl.ch and the SMA will move the course(s) into the right group.

If you do not take a minor, you also have to take 4 credits for courses in engineering outside mathematics, please see below under "Engineering courses: already validated list". Please note that you must write to martina.keddouh@epfl.ch to inform us that you take an engineering course, so that the SMA can check whether it is acceptable and then move it into the appropriate group. The third week of the semester send an email to martina.keddouh@epfl.ch and the SMA will move the course into the right group.

Engineering courses : already validated list

Here is a list of coursed which are already approved. Please note that you must inform us if you take such a course, so that we can move it to the right group in the master!

Warning: some courses have a maximum capacity and you won't be able to register. As the list of courses with max capacity is changing each year/semester, the list below is not always up-to-date
